Puerto Vallarta (or simply "Vallarta," as it is often called by locals) is located on the Pacific Coast of Mexico in the State of Jalisco within a large bay called Bahia de Banderas (Bay of Flags). Sitting at just 2 meters above sea level and at the same latitude as Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta enjoys a warm, tropical climate year-round.
Direct flights are available from most North American and European cities. Some airlines include Aeromexico, America West, Alaska and Continental Airlines. Puerto Vallarta has been a go-to destination for international tourism for over 50 years. If you live in LA or San Diego and are looking for affordable options, check out Volaris airlines. If you live in San Diego, it’s recommended to use the CBX and fly out of the Tijuana Airport. The CBX is an international bridge that takes you directly to your boarding zone in Tijuana without going through the city. The flight prices can start at $200 dollars roundtrip (depending on the season)
Due to its location between the Western Sierra Madre mountain and the Mexican Pacific, you’ll find pleasant weather all year long. Puerto Vallarta is tropical all year long with warm beach temperatures and cool ocean breeze.
During the summer months, you can expect temperatures between 77°F and 89°F (25°C and 32°C), and during the winter months you can enjoy temperatures between 62°F and 81°F (17°C and 27°C)
The best times to visit Puerto Vallarta are determined in large part by two forces: prices and weather patterns. Since Puerto Vallarta sits relatively close to the Equator, weather is pretty consistent with pleasant temperatures all year-round. Summer is the start of the rainy season in Puerto Vallarta expect to see rain about half of the days and overcast skies almost every day
